President
CARTER MCDONALD
[email protected]
As the President of the Alabama Association of Student Nurses, I, Jennifer Hernandez plan to be an advocate and voice for all Alabama nursing students. I promise to adhere and uphold the duties bestowed upon me by the AANS for the 2017-2018 term. Currently, I’m in my third semester of nursing school at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. I am passionate about the success of my fellow nursing students, and hope to provide the resources necessary in transitioning from school to a prosperous and rewarding career. My primary goal is to promote unity within our diverse nursing student population so that we may foster healthy working relationships and a positive environment for personal growth. We are the change in the future of healthcare, and it’s only when we come together that we can make a real difference. I look forward to our impact on today’s nursing by moving it forward to establish better outcomes for patients and nurses. |

Treasurer
Rebecca Stillwell-Miller
[email protected]
My name is Rebecca Stillwell-Miller and I currently attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville and I am so excited to serve as the 2016-2017 Treasurer for AANS! I have owned my own business and I understand that fiscal responsibility is extremely important in any organization. I promise I will act with integrity, honesty and openness.
At this year’s annual conference, I kept hearing the phrase, “small voice” in reference to AANS and student nurses. "Small voices" do matter and by working together we can make our “small voice” loud. We are learning to advocate for our patients, we also need to advocate for each other! Join us, YOUR board members, and help raise our voice, for each other, for other nurses and for all Alabamians! I love my fellow board members already, we are all here to serve YOU, the members of AANS. Together we are stronger! |

Our mission is to influence health care, nursing education, and the nursing practice environment through legislative and communication activities. It is my responsibility to promote and encourage participation in these activities, while developing collaborative relationships through the leaders of all school chapters in the state of Alabama. I look forward to reporting all of our upcoming events in hopes to see you all there in the upcoming year!
